S2E5 Part Two: Military and Mental Health

As we continue our discussion of military and mental health, we invite guest Danielle Karber, a primary care provider who works for the VA, to join us in the studio. This is the second of our three-part episode.

Danielle offers a unique perspective both with her experience of treating veterans and also as the wife of an active tech sergeant in security forces. Danielle shares the challenges of breaking stigma with her patients and highlights the importance of taking time to work with individuals as they heal and adjust to life after the military.

Danielle also offers our listeners a chance to understand the sacrifices those who support our military must go through, the challenges of raising a family while a partner is deployed, and active ways of engaging with a partner to strengthen a relationship.

This episode really helps listeners understand the concept of empathy, and what it means to work as a healer in both the medical and the helping professions. For those who are suffering, please, seek the help that is waiting for you. And if you find yourself a supporter, be the light for someone else, especially when they cannot see their own.

Be Well!
