S1E5: White Butterflies and Navigating Grief and Loss

This difficult episode highlights a bittersweet lesson in life when we recognize how the cost of loving someone is to understand, inevitably, we may one day lose them. My co-worker Carrie Johnson gives a raw and honest interview discussing the loss of her father and how this impacted her mental health. Carrie explains the process of managing her grief by relying on a supporting network of family and friends while remaining true to her core values.

With the most genuine sense of humor, Carrie discloses how even in the darkest and deepest of moments, sometimes the only way through the chaos is to see the glass half-full…(and then laugh when the glass falls over and it doesn’t matter what it was in the first place).

Though mental health awareness will never completely take away the pain we are feeling while we are grieving, we do recognize how understanding the stages of grief and utilizing healthy coping mechanisms can give us some peace and guide us to a new way of living and healing.

I forced Carrie to take this picture at work because we forgot to take one in the studio…
