S1E3: Let’s Talk About it with a Counselor

In an effort to reduce the stigma surrounding mental health and mental health services, I invited Erica Jayne Dahlquist, LMHC, NCC, NLP, to join the show so we could talk about current trends in the mental health field. EJ and I dive into what mental health stigma is, why it exists, and how those in the helping services can work to combat this. We also open up about our own mental health journeys, giving listeners a viewpoint into what counseling is like from both the perspective of a client and the perspective of a therapist. If you’ve never been to counseling before, or if you’ve had a negative counseling experience in the past, this is a conversation you should tune in for!

This episode also stresses the importance of maintaining a functioning counseling relationship, and ways to improve our general mental health within our day-to-day lives. We hope this episode inspires and motivates those considering mental health services while aiding in the healing of those currently working on their self-care routines.
